How do I remove a cast iron bathtub?
We have tried a sawsall with every kind of blade, a wood saw, an ax, a sledge hammer and a jackhammer. It wouldn’t be profitable to take the wall out (brick). The beams around the tub are supporting beams. It weighs about 500 lbs. We can’t afford to hire someone and I don’t want a tub liner. Any destrucitive ideas?
It’s the weight thats the problem. My husband and I aren’t as young and strong as we used to be. I think we’ll have to break it up.
bite the bullet. call in a favor or pay a coupe of day laborers. while there are there have them clean the yard dig some holes . all the hard work. u sound like you need help. if u mustt do it face sheild and saftey gear is neeeded then a big sledgehammer try and blow out the side wear u would put your back1/3 down from the rim . careful it will want to explode. pieces will fly i had a shrd stick right in a 2×4 and not just a little bit . did i mention get some hlp. good luck
